Does music help us work?
Will music help you work? Some will and won't, it's probably as simple as that. But I can't stop here, i have to explain what will help and what won't.
What music is better? While music with lyrics is good, it may not be the best if you're trying to concentrate, maybe low bass and no lyrics might be the way to go or familiar songs so you don't listen closely if you're listening to a new song. So no lyrics for the win!
If you're doing the same old tasks everyday, music can help repetitive tasks seem less boring. A series of experiments has investigated the relationship between the playing of background music during the performance of repetitive work and efficiency in performing such a task. The results give strong support to the contention that economic benefits can increase from the use of music in industry.
Now, what are the actual types of music that are best for concentration? Some types of music for concentration are, classical, electronic and video - game music. Why? They have no lyrics to distract the thinking or the minds of the person, but it's all up to your taste, if you don't mind lyrics, well then it's practically up to you really.
So does music help you work? In my opinion, yes, but it depends on your type of taste.
